Wild Angler

Wild Angler is a fly-fishing guide service led by Casey Cravens, working brown and rainbow trout water across the southern South Island. Trips run out of Otago, Southland, the West Coast and Fiordland, with regular use of the Mataura River and tributaries flowing out of Fiordland, Mt Aspiring and Kahurangi National Parks. Bases of operation include Dunedin, Queenstown, Wanaka and Te Anau.

The offering is custom multi-week itineraries rather than fixed packages. Days are walk-and-wade sight-fishing on alpine backcountry rivers and lower pastoral streams, with helicopter expeditions available for harder-to-reach water. Road-trip style trips link several regions across a single booking.

This is a fly-fishing operator, not a game-animal hunting outfitter. It appears under hunting-related directories largely because the Wild Angler name overlaps the hunting category; the actual product is guided trout fishing.
