New Zealand Trophy Hunting

Kurow · 860 McHenrys Road, Hakataramea Valley 9498, New Zealand

New Zealand Trophy Hunting is based in the Hakataramea Valley between Christchurch and Queenstown, working both their fenced red stag hunting park and free-range foot hunts for tahr, chamois, red and fallow deer in the Southern Alps. The country described spans roughly 800km long by 160km wide with peaks over 3,600m.

Species offered include gold and silver medal red stag (estate), free-range red stag, Himalayan tahr, wapiti, fallow buck, free-range fallow, alpine chamois, wild boar, Arapawa ram and feral goat, plus small game, game-bird shooting and trout fishing.

Operations are lodge-based with helicopter access used for alpine chamois and tahr pursuits. Prices are not published on the site — quotes are by enquiry. The fenced/free-range split lets hunters choose between guaranteed estate trophy hunts and harder backcountry alpine work within the one operator.
