Poronui Hunting

Taupo · 2229 Taharua Rd, Taharua, Taupo 3379, New Zealand

Poronui is an 8,200-hectare estate of mixed farmland and wilderness about 40 minutes south of Taupo in the central North Island, sitting against native beech forest and scrub-covered hill country with multiple stream catchments. The hunting product covers red stag, sika stag, fallow buck, rusa stag, Arapawa ram and feral goat - all spot-and-stalk on the estate's own ground.

Guests stay at one of three accommodation options on property: the main lodge (up to 16 guests), the standalone Blake House villa or the more rustic Safari Camp. Hunting is fully guided, road-accessed from Taupo with helicopter movements available for high-country work. Guides run experienced spot-and-stalk parties and tailor the day around the client's chosen species.

Pricing isn't published as fixed packages; the site uses a season- and accommodation-based calculator that returns quotes on enquiry. Poronui is part of a wider lodge group, so hunting commonly runs alongside fly-fishing or non-hunter stays.
