Blue Duck Station
Retaruke · 4265 Oio Road, Retaruke 3990, New Zealand
Blue Duck Station is a working hill-country farm on the Whanganui and Retaruke Rivers in the Ruapehu District, bordering Whanganui National Park. The station is best known for native whio (blue duck) conservation, and runs hunting alongside horse trekking, jet boating and bush walks.
Hunting is for red deer, fallow, feral pigs and goats across bush and farm terrain. First-time guests are taken with a guide; returning lodge guests with a current NZ firearms licence can hunt unguided once they know the country. Pig hunts are dog-assisted with ATV access.
The property emphasises full use of the animal and works hunting around its conservation and farming operations. Rates are published per hunt and per animal, with lodge or self-catered hut accommodation on top.
