S² Expeditions

S2 Expeditions is based on a red deer and sheep station beside the Waiau River in the remote southwest of the South Island, working out of Manapouri into Southland and Fiordland. The operation is a combined hunting and fly-fishing outfit rather than a hunting-only lodge.

Hunts are mostly free-range for red deer, fallow, chamois, Himalayan tahr, Arapawa ram, Fiordland merino ram, Pacific goat and wild boar, with trophy stag and wapiti trips into Fiordland on top. Access uses jet boat, helicopter and float plane to reach back-country rivers and tops, including the Oreti, Aparima, Mararoa and Mataura systems.

Accommodation runs from high-end lodges to DIY hotels and Airbnbs depending on budget. Pricing is not posted publicly.
