Alpine Hunting New Zealand

Taihape

Alpine Hunting New Zealand is a Taihape-based outfitter operating a privately owned ranch of around 5,000 acres in the Rangitikei high country of the North Island, with a second hunting operation in the Southern Alps. The North Island ranch holds red stag, sika, fallow, rusa, sambar, goats and rams running together in open valleys, native manuka bush and mountain tussock rather than fenced paddocks. Tahr and chamois are hunted on the South Island via helicopter access onto concession ground in the Southern Alps.

The company has been operating since 1992 and is positioned as a trophy operation, with red stags graded against SCI scores and a substantial entry in the SCI Record Books across multiple weapon types. Headline packages include single-species red stag hunts tiered by SCI class, a 5 Species North Island combo and a South Pacific 8 Species package that combines the Rangitikei ranch with a helicopter-accessed tahr and chamois leg on the South Island.

Lodge accommodation, daily guide rates, meals, airport transfers and field trophy prep are included in package pricing. The Rangitikei base also has a private stretch of the Rangitikei River for rainbow trout fishing as an add-on for hunting clients. The nearest airport for inbound travellers is Palmerston North.
