Uenuku Charitable Trust and Ruapehu District Council

This is a joint concession held by the Uenuku Charitable Trust and the Ruapehu District Council. Uenuku Charitable Trust represents the Uenuku, Tamahaki and Tamakana iwi based around Raetihi and the upper Whanganui catchment, and is the mandated body for their Treaty settlement (transitioning into Te Korowai o Wainuiarua Trust). Ruapehu District Council is the local authority covering Tongariro and Turangi.

The shared DOC helicopter-landing concession covers the Tongariro and Turangi districts and is consistent with iwi/council use for environmental restoration, biosecurity and the planned Pokaka Eco Sanctuary rather than commercial flying. Neither party operates as a heli-tourism business.
