Te Uri o Hau Settlement Trust is the post-settlement governance entity for Te Uri o Hau, a Ngati Whatua hapu/iwi based around the northern Kaipara Harbour. Established under the Te Uri o Hau Claims Settlement Act 2002, it represents uri across Dargaville, Maungaturoto, Mangawhai, Kaiwaka, Wellsford and Pouto, and acts as iwi authority for resource-consent matters.
The Trust runs Environs (its RMA/environmental arm), a Tangata Development office and a Whanau Ora office, and holds DOC and RMA-related concessions in its rohe. The helicopter-landing concession in the Kauri Coast district is held by the iwi for cultural, environmental and kaitiakitanga purposes rather than as a commercial aviation service.
