Riariaki Conservation Area is a 1,228 ha block in the Manawatu-Wanganui region, taken out under the Whanganui Restricted permit area, and is classed as a restricted hunting area (RHA). Elevations run from about 285 m up to 659 m, with a median around 511 m, so it sits as mid-altitude bush country well below the bushline.

Aspects are reasonably evenly spread, with a small lean to the south. There is no single dominant face — the block is rolling Whanganui-country bush with workable approaches for most wind directions.

Game on the permit includes red deer, fallow deer, sika, wild goat and wild pig. It carries the full spread of central North Island bush species, with sika in the mix.
