Pairawahipi Scenic Reserve

RHA579 haPermit: Restricted

Pairawahipi Scenic Reserve is a 579 ha block in the Manawatu-Wanganui region, taken out under the Whanganui Restricted permit area, and is classed as a restricted hunting area (RHA). Elevations run from about 376 m up to 707 m, with a median around 600 m, so it sits as mid-altitude bush country well below the bushline.

Aspects are very evenly spread across the eight directions, with a small lean to the north-east and north-west. There is no single dominant face — the block is rolling bush country with workable approaches for most wind directions.

Game on the permit includes red deer, fallow deer, sika, wild goat and wild pig. It carries the full spread of central North Island bush species, with sika mixing in.
