Tweed

Ordinary4,000 haPermit: Permitted

Tweed is a 4,000-hectare ordinary block on the Molesworth Station and Clarence grazing lease, with significant vertical relief in the inland Marlborough country. Elevations run from 511 m to 2,155 m with a median of 1,063 m, so the bulk of the block sits in the bush-and-scrub belt with the upper faces climbing onto tops.

Thirty-two per cent of the block sits above the 1,200 m bushline and just 5% is alpine, putting it in the mix of bush and tops bracket. The country leans east-facing, with strong east, north-east and south-east aspects catching morning sun.

The permit covers red deer, chamois, wild goat and wild pig. Reds work the bush belt, chamois the upper faces, and pigs and goats spread through the scrub and broken lower ground.
