Boundary
Boundary is a 4,097-hectare roar block on the Molesworth Station and Clarence grazing lease, sitting at the northern end of the Molesworth country. Elevations run from 980 m to 2,052 m with a median of 1,470 m, making this mostly above the bushline tops country with significant alpine ground.
Eighty-six per cent of the block sits above the 1,200 m bushline and 46% is alpine, so this is predominantly alpine country — broad tussock basins, snow grass, exposed ridge systems and rocky upper faces. The block leans east-facing, with morning-sun faces and significant south-east and north-east aspects that hold animals through warmer days.
The species list is red deer, chamois and wild goat. The tops country suits chamois particularly well; reds work the lower bush-edge and tussock fringe, and goats spread through the rocky lower margins.

What you can hunt here
This is a roar — the red deer roar peaks from late March into April, and competition for the block is highest then.
Access & getting there
Air access is not permitted on this block, so hunters work in on foot from the Molesworth and Clarence side. WARO is permitted, so commercial recovery helicopters may be working over the same country — worth factoring into trip planning.
Saxton Hut sits within the Molesworth Recreation Reserve and serves the block. It has heating, mattresses, a non-flush toilet and tap water (untreated — boil before use). It is not bookable, so plan for first-come first-served use and carry a fly or tent as backup.
