Bullock Gully
Bullock Gully is a 2,147-hectare roar block on the Molesworth Station and Clarence grazing lease, in inland Marlborough. Elevations run from 768 m to 1,748 m with a median of 1,182 m — country that sits right around the bushline through much of the block.
Forty-seven per cent of the block sits above the 1,200 m bushline and 12% is alpine, so this is mostly above the bushline tops country with a bush-edge band on the lower margins. The block leans east-facing, with strong east, south-east and north-east aspects catching morning sun.
The permit covers red deer, chamois, wild goat and wild pig. Reds and pigs work the lower bush and scrub, chamois sit the upper faces, and goats spread through the rougher country.

What you can hunt here
This is a roar — the red deer roar peaks from late March into April, and competition for the block is highest then.
Access & getting there
Air access is not permitted on Bullock Gully and WARO is not permitted either, so the country is left to walk-in hunters during the roar. Access runs from the legal entry points on the Molesworth station system.
No DOC huts sit within the block, so fly camping or working from an outside base is the standard set-up. Carry a fly or tent and check Molesworth access status before leaving — the station road network is seasonal.
