Titirangi Scenic Reserve
Titirangi Scenic Reserve is a small 307 ha block in the Manawatu-Wanganui region, taken out under the Palmerston North Area Reserves permit area. Elevations run from about 301 m up to 608 m, with a median around 454 m, so it sits as mid-altitude bush country well below the bushline.
The block has a strong south-and-south-west lean, with about 27% of the country facing south, 20% south-west and useful shares also dropping south-east. Northerly aspects barely feature. That gives a clear set of shaded sidles to focus on, with cool feed-holding country dominating.
Game on the permit includes red deer, fallow deer, sambar and wild goat. Sambar are the standout — these Palmerston North reserves sit within the small introduced sambar range.
