Takaputahi/Whitikau Conservation Area is a 449 hectare public hunting block in the Gisborne/Raukumara permit area, eastern Bay of Plenty. Elevations run from 347 m up to 827 m, with a median of 523 m — lowland to mid-elevation bush country sitting below the bushline.

This is Raukumara-edge country sitting between the Takaputahi and Whitikau drainages. Slopes lean north-west on the dominant aspect, with a fair share of north and west faces giving warm sunlit sidles through much of the day.

Game on the permit includes red deer, fallow deer, wild goat and wild pig. The four-species mix and remote setting make this a productive block for varied hunting.
