The block is bush-covered, with slopes spread across most aspects and a south-east dominant. That gives a fairly even split of sunny and shaded faces and gully systems for working in different wind conditions.
Game on the permit includes red deer and sambar. The sambar entry is notable — this is one of the species's strongholds in the central North Island.
