Conservation Area - Mangorewa is an 866 hectare public hunting block in the Rotorua Lakes and surrounds permit area. Elevations run from 374 m up to 544 m, with a median of 495 m, so this is mid-elevation lowland country well below the bushline.
The block is bush-covered ground in the Mangorewa Gorge country between Rotorua and the Bay of Plenty coast. Slopes carry a north-west dominant with strong shares of south-east, north and east, giving a mix of warm and shaded faces.
Game on the permit includes red deer, wild goat and wild pig. Goats and pigs are the most realistic species on this size and elevation of block.
