Pitangi Scenic Reserve

Ordinary1,107 haPermit: Permitted

Pitangi Scenic Reserve is a 1,107 ha block in the Manawatu-Wanganui region, taken out under the Whanganui Reserves permit area. Elevations run from about 187 m up to 647 m, with a median around 421 m, so it sits as lowland to mid-altitude bush country well below the bushline.

The block leans westerly, with about a fifth of the country facing west and useful shares also picking up east and north-west. Aspects are otherwise reasonably spread. That gives workable sidles for most wind directions, with cool westerly faces holding feed.

Game on the permit includes red deer, fallow deer, wild goat and wild pig. At over 1,000 hectares it is a workable weekend-trip block.
