Otanewainuku Forest
Otanewainuku Forest is a 1,211 hectare public hunting block in the Tauranga Area permit zone, Bay of Plenty. Elevations run from 168 m up to 592 m, with a median of 393 m — lowland to mid-elevation bush country sitting well below the bushline.
The block is bush-covered ground in the Otanewainuku country south-east of Tauranga. Slopes lean east on the dominant aspect, with a fair share of north and south-east faces giving warm and shaded sidles to work in different conditions.
Game on the permit includes red deer, fallow deer, wild goat and wild pig. The four-species mix and reasonable size make this a useful block for varied hunting.
