Mangaroa Scenic Reserve
Mangaroa Scenic Reserve is a small 211 ha block in the Manawatu-Wanganui region, taken out under the Taranaki Forests permit area. Elevations run from about 298 m up to 545 m, with a median around 482 m, so it sits as mid-altitude bush country well below the bushline.
The block has an easterly lean, with about a quarter of the country facing east and useful shares also dropping south-east, north and south. There is a workable spread of aspects, so wind from most directions can be played onto a shaded sidle somewhere on the block.
Game on the permit includes red deer, fallow deer, wild goat and wild pig. At this size it is a focused short-stalk block.
