Waituhi-Kuratau Scenic Reserve
Waituhi-Kuratau Scenic Reserve is a 851 ha block in the Manawatu-Wanganui region, taken out under the Pureora Forest Park and surrounds permit area. Elevations run from about 415 m up to 953 m, with a median around 707 m, so it sits as mid-altitude bush country well below the bushline.
The block has a north-east lean, with about 17% of the country facing north-east, 13% south and useful shares to north-west and west. Aspects are otherwise reasonably spread. That gives a workable mix of sun-facing and shaded sidles depending on wind direction.
Game on the permit includes red deer, wild goat and wild pig. It is bush-and-spurs hunting on the southern edge of the Pureora deer country.
