Waiotane Scenic Reserve
Waiotane Scenic Reserve is a 255 hectare public hunting block in the Whakatane/Waioeka/Urutawa permit area, eastern Bay of Plenty. Elevations run from 20 m up to 291 m, with a median of 140 m — coastal lowland country well below the bushline.
The block is low, warm bush country typical of the eastern Bay of Plenty coast. Slopes lean east on the dominant aspect, with a fair share of north-east and south-east faces giving warm sidles through much of the day.
Game on the permit includes red deer, sambar and wild pig. The sambar entry is notable on a small coastal block.
