Waima Forest
Waima Forest is a 4,351 ha block in the Waimā-Mataraua forest country of central Northland — one of the largest contiguous bush blocks in the region. Elevations run from 117 m up to 772 m with a median of 520 m, placing the bulk of the block in mid-altitude foothill bush below the bushline.
Aspect leans south, with notable shares also facing south-west, west and north. The forest carries some of Northland's most significant subtropical kauri-podocarp-broadleaf bush, with dense canopy across most faces.
Game on the permit is wild goat and wild pig. The size and elevation make this a serious bush hunt.
