Tangihua Forest is a 3,220 ha block in the Tangihua range south of Whangārei. Elevations run from 37 m up to 604 m with a median of 235 m, placing the whole block in lowland and foothill bush below the bushline.
Aspect is broadly spread, with the strongest shares facing south, east and north-east. The forest carries subtropical kauri-podocarp-broadleaf cover typical of southern Northland's main hill ranges.
