Rotomahana Conservation Area is a 769 hectare public hunting block in the Rotorua Lakes and surrounds permit area, Bay of Plenty. Elevations run from 303 m up to 558 m, with a median of 395 m — lowland to mid-elevation country sitting well below the bushline.
The block is bush-covered ground in the Lake Rotomahana country south of Lake Tarawera. Slopes lean south-east on the dominant aspect, with a fair share of east and south faces giving shaded gully systems through the day.
Game on the permit includes red deer, sambar and wild pig. The sambar entry puts this block in the wider Tarawera-Rotomahana sambar range.
