Rangi Scenic Reserve

RHA338 haPermit: Permitted

Rangi Scenic Reserve is a 338 ha block in the Manawatu-Wanganui region, taken out under the Taumarunui Reserves permit area, and is classed as a restricted hunting area (RHA). Elevations run from about 244 m up to 543 m, with a median around 427 m, so it sits as mid-altitude bush country well below the bushline.

The block has a slight lean to north-west and south, with the eight aspects otherwise reasonably balanced. That gives a workable spread of sidles for most wind directions, with the broken spur-and-gully country typical of the Taumarunui reserves.

Game on the permit includes red deer, wild goat and wild pig. At this size it is a focused short-stalk block by the allocated party.
