Raketapauma Conservation Area
Raketapauma Conservation Area is a 440 ha block in the Manawatu-Wanganui region, taken out under the Palmerston North Area Reserves permit area. Elevations run from about 611 m up to 910 m, with a median around 786 m, so it sits as higher mid-altitude bush country still below the bushline.
The block has a south-west-and-west lean, with about 26% of the country facing south-west, 23% west and useful shares also dropping south. Easterly aspects are limited. That gives a clear set of cool, shaded sidles to focus on, with feed-holding country across much of the block.
Game on the permit includes red deer, wild goat and wild pig. It is bush-and-spurs hunting in the foothills west of the Ruahines.
