Puketi Forest
Puketi Forest is one of Northland's largest hunting blocks at 7,327 ha, sitting in the Puketi-Omahuta forest system in central Northland. Elevations run from 11 m up to 529 m with a median of 254 m, so the block is lowland to foothill bush well below the bushline.
Aspect is broadly spread, with notable shares facing south, north, north-west and south-west. The forest carries some of the most significant remaining stands of subtropical kauri-podocarp-broadleaf bush in Northland, with the dense canopy making for close-range stalking.
Game on the permit is wild goat and wild pig. The size of the block lets hunters spread out across multiple trips.
