Pakanai Scenic Reserve
Pakanai Scenic Reserve is a small 112 ha block in Northland sitting at the upper end of foothill elevations. Elevations run from 172 m up to 594 m with a median of 379 m, well below the bushline but on the steeper side of Northland's hill country.
Aspect is dominated by north-west and west, with around three quarters of the block facing those directions. That gives a warm afternoon-sun bias across the reserve. Country is subtropical regenerating bush typical of inland Northland.
Game on the permit is wild goat and wild pig. The dominant west-facing aspect makes this a logical goat block.
