Okahukura Scenic Reserve
Okahukura Scenic Reserve is a small 251 ha block in the Manawatu-Wanganui region, taken out under the Taumarunui Reserves permit area, and is classed as a restricted hunting area (RHA). Elevations run from about 204 m up to 472 m, with a median around 328 m, so this is lowland to foothill bush country well below the bushline.
Aspects are evenly spread with a slight lean to south and east. There is no single dominant face — the block is rolling bush country with workable approaches for most wind directions. It is bush-and-spurs hunting, no real open ground.
Game on the permit includes red deer, wild goat and wild pig. At this size it is a focused short-stalk block by the allocated party.
