Hawai Scenic Reserve
Hawai Scenic Reserve is a 339 hectare public hunting block in the Gisborne/Raukumara permit area, eastern Bay of Plenty. Elevations run from 19 m at sea level up to 453 m, with a median of 178 m — coastal lowland country well below the bushline.
This is low, warm bush country on the East Cape side of the Bay of Plenty. Slopes lean south on the dominant aspect, with strong shares of south-east and south-west giving shaded faces and gully systems through much of the day.
Game on the permit includes red deer, wild goat and wild pig. Goats and pigs are the most realistic species on country this low and warm.
