Gammons Block Conservation Area
Gammons Block Conservation Area is a 3,482 hectare public hunting block in the Tauranga Area permit zone, Bay of Plenty. Elevations run from 351 m up to 567 m, with a median of 483 m — mid-elevation lowland country sitting well below the bushline.
This is a sizeable block of bush country in the western Bay of Plenty. Slopes lean west on the dominant aspect, with strong shares of east, south-east and north-west giving plenty of faces and gully systems to choose from in different wind conditions.
Game on the permit includes red deer, wild goat and wild pig. The size of Gammons makes it more of a destination block than the smaller Tauranga-area reserves.
