Tokerau Beach Conservation Area
Tokerau Beach Conservation Area is a 373 ha block on Karikari Peninsula in the Far North. Elevations are minimal — from near sea level up to just 13 m, with a median of 5 m. This is dune, beachfront and very low scrub country rather than anything resembling hill ground.
Aspect figures lean east (toward the Tokerau Beach coast), with notable shares across south-west, west and north-east. The block carries low coastal dune vegetation and regenerating scrub.
Wild pig is the only listed species. The flat, sandy country is very different from typical Northland forest blocks.
