Rangaunu Conservation Area
Rangaunu Conservation Area is a 941 ha block on the Rangaunu Harbour edge in far northern Northland. The elevation profile is striking — it runs from 1 m up to just 62 m with a median of 7 m, making this essentially sea-level wetland and dune country.
Aspect figures are spread across all eight points but lean north-east, reflecting the flat character of the country rather than any meaningful slope. The block carries low coastal scrub, dune cover and wetland-edge vegetation.
Wild pig is the only listed species. The flat, low country and harbour edge make this very different from typical Northland forest blocks.
