Balloted Roar block503 haPermit: Permitted

Poker Gully is a small 503 ha balloted Roar block in the Franz Josef - Waiau permit area. Elevations sit entirely above the bushline, from 1,170 m at the lowest edge to 2,323 m on the tops, with a median around 1,678 m.

This is mostly above the bushline country — 100% of the block sits above 1,200 m and 76% pushes into ground above 1,500 m. The dominant aspect is north-west, so the main faces catch the afternoon sun.

The block carries red deer, tahr and chamois. With no bush ground at all, this is a pure alpine block worked for tahr and chamois on the open faces and basins.
