Conservation Area - Whareorino
Conservation Area - Whareorino is a very large 16,049-hectare public hunting block in the western King Country. The block is lowland and foothill country, topping out at 786 m.
Elevations run from 17 m at the lower edges to 786 m at the high point, with a median of 368 m. All of the block sits below the bushline. Slopes lean east-facing on the whole.
Listed game is red deer, fallow deer, sika, wild goat and wild pig. At this size, there is plenty of country to spread out into; expect to put time into reading the wind through the bush blocks. This is one of the central North Island blocks that carries sika, so expect close-range, quiet stalking through dense bush rather than open-country glassing.
