Arbor Rift
Arbor Rift is a small 868 ha balloted Roar block in the South Westland - Weheka permit area. Elevations run from 673 m on the lower edges to 2,423 m on the tops, with a median around 1,337 m.
This is predominantly alpine country — 61% of the block sits above the 1,200 m bushline and 38% pushes into ground above 1,500 m. The dominant aspect is south-east, so the main faces stay cool through the morning and into the day.
The block carries red deer, tahr and chamois. With most of the country above the bushline, it's tahr and chamois ground first, with red deer through the limited bush margins.
