Scotsburn
Scotsburn is a small 169 ha public hunting block in Canterbury, made up of several separate parcels. Elevations run from around 306 m at the lowest point up to 712 m on the high ground, with a median of about 442 m.
This is lowland and foothill country — none of the block reaches the 1,200 m bushline or true alpine ground, so it's bush, scrub and pasture-margin country rather than open tops. Slopes lean east, which gives sunny morning faces and good light through the early part of the day.
The species list is red deer, tahr, chamois and wild pig. On a block this small and this low, reds and pigs are the realistic targets, though the listed species reflect what can move through the country.
