Mt Ngongotaha Scenic Reserve
Mt Ngongotaha Scenic Reserve is a 527 hectare public hunting block on the slopes of Mt Ngongotaha north-west of Rotorua, in the Rotorua Lakes and surrounds permit area. Elevations run from 357 m up to 754 m, with a median of 561 m — mid-elevation lowland country sitting well below the bushline.
The block covers a substantial part of the mountain's bush-covered flanks above the city. Slopes lean south on the dominant aspect, with a fair share of east and south-west faces giving shaded gully systems through much of the day.
Game on the permit is wild pig. No deer are listed for this block, so trips here are pig-focused.
