Black Miller Stream Mangamaunu Scenic Reserve
Black Miller Stream Mangamaunu Scenic Reserve is a small 142 ha public hunting block sitting in the South Marlborough permit area, administered under Canterbury. The ground runs from near sea level at 11 m up to 498 m, with a median elevation of 292 m.
This is lowland coastal foothill country — well below the bushline, with no alpine ground at all. Slopes lean south-east-facing, so the block carries the cooler shaded aspects typical of inland Kaikoura coastal hill country, with bush and scrub the dominant cover.
The species list is red deer, chamois, wild goat and wild pig. At this size and elevation it's a short-trip or day-hunt option rather than a destination block, and the goat and pig opportunities reflect the warmer low-elevation cover.
