19 - Teer Creek

Balloted Roar block9,246 haPermit: Permitted

Block 19 - Teer Creek is a 9,246 ha balloted roar block in the South Westland - Weheka permit area — one of the larger blocks on the ballot. Elevations run from sea level up to 815 m, with a median of just 157 m.

This is lowland country sitting close to sea level — none of the block sits above the bushline and the bulk of the area is well below 300 m. Expect heavy West Coast bush, river flats, swampy ground and bluffy lower spurs typical of the near-coastal hinterland. Slopes lean south-west on the dominant aspect.

The block carries red deer and tahr. Reds are the realistic recreational quarry at these elevations; tahr are listed for the wider permit area but the country sits well below their usual range on this block.
