Puketeraki
Puketeraki is a large Canterbury block of roughly 9,120 hectares. Elevations run from about 564 m up to 1,796 m, with a median of 1,119 m, so this country brushes against the bushline through its middle and reaches into alpine ground at the top.
With 39% of sampled ground above the 1,200 m bushline and 10% in true alpine country above 1,500 m, this is a mix of bush and tops with a clear high-country fringe. Slopes lean predominantly east, with strong shares of south-east, west and south faces, giving a wide spread of sunlit faces and shaded basins to work.
Game on the permit includes red deer, chamois and wild pig. The size of the block gives room for multi-day trips with options for both bush hunting and top stalking.
