Mangapiko Valley Scenic Reserve is a mid-sized 323-hectare public hunting block in the northern Waikato. The block is lowland and foothill country, topping out at 442 m.
Elevations run from 150 m at the lower edges to 442 m at the high point, with a median of 272 m. All of the block sits below the bushline. Slopes lean south-facing on the whole.
Listed game is red deer, wild goat and wild pig. At this size, the block is a day-hunt option rather than a destination — quiet, controlled stalks suit the country best.

Access & getting there
Helicopter access is permitted on the block, so a fly-in or fly-camp is an option for parties willing to organise an operator. Wild Animal Recovery Operations (WARO) are permitted, so commercial helicopter operators may be working the wider area.
No DOC huts or campsites are recorded inside the block. Most parties will be day-hunting from a vehicle base, with fly-camping the alternative for longer trips.
