Killermont - Firearms prohibited on access tracks
Killermont is a 1,111 ha public hunting block in Canterbury. Elevations run from around 664 m on the lower faces up to 1,745 m on the tops, with a median of about 1,241 m.
The block is mostly above the bushline — roughly 56% of the ground sits above 1,200 m and 19% pushes into true alpine country above 1,500 m. Slopes lean south-east, which gives cooler shaded mornings on the dominant aspect and warmer afternoon sun on the opposite faces for glassing.
The species list is red deer, tahr and wild pig. The mix of bush margins, broken tops and the altitude range gives a realistic shot at both reds and tahr inside a compact piece of ground.
