Whisky - Blue Mountains
Whisky is a 655 ha block in the Blue Mountains, in the Murihiku Hunting Restricted Areas permit network. Elevations run from 280 m to 920 m, with a median of 728 m — lowland / foothill country with no bushline.
This is classic Blue Mountains terrain — beech forest, regenerating scrub and farmland edges across rolling hills. The block leans north-west, so the dominant faces catch afternoon sun and the lower bush stays cooler through the morning. Country is small enough that a party can cover most of it on foot through a long weekend.
Game on the permit is fallow deer and wild pig. The Blue Mountains carry one of southern Otago's better public-land fallow herds and Whisky gives controlled access to that population.
