Tenehaun

Ordinary1,104 haPermit: Permitted

Tenehaun is a small 1,104 ha public hunting block in Canterbury. Elevations run from around 510 m up to 1,368 m, with a median of about 880 m.

This is lowland-to-foothill country with no real tops — only about 3% of the block sits above the 1,200 m bushline, and there's no alpine ground. Hunters are essentially working bush and shrubland faces rather than glassing open tussock. Slopes lean predominantly south, which keeps the country cool and the bush damp. It's the kind of block suited to stalking and calling rather than long-range glassing.

The species are red deer and chamois. For a compact bush-dominated block, that's a workable two-species combination.
