Mangaorongo Scenic Reserve
Mangaorongo Scenic Reserve is a compact 102-hectare public hunting block in the western King Country. The block is lowland and foothill country, topping out at 190 m.
Elevations run from 79 m at the lower edges to 190 m at the high point, with a median of 118 m. All of the block sits below the bushline. Slopes lean south-east-facing on the whole.
Listed game is wild goat and wild pig — both species favour close-range work in the bush and scrub country found here.

Access & getting there
Helicopter access is permitted on the block, so a fly-in or fly-camp is an option for parties willing to organise an operator. Wild Animal Recovery Operations (WARO) are permitted, so commercial helicopter operators may be working the wider area.
No DOC huts or campsites are recorded inside the block. Most parties will be day-hunting from a vehicle base, with fly-camping the alternative for longer trips.
